Prog on International Humanitarian Laws held

Imphal, January 18 2015:
KAKCHING, JAN 18 (HNS): A one-day consultative programme on "International Humanitarian Law and Right to Life" was jointly organised by District Women Committee of United NGOs Mission-Manipur (UNM-M) and All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) at Lokhijang Primary School, Sugnu on Saturday.
During the programme, resource persons which included Babloo Loitongbam, Director Human Rights Alert; Shangnaidar Tontang, Chief Functionary of Weaker Section Development Committee (WSDC) and Romeo Bungdon, General Secretary of All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) deliberated on various topics ranging from law of the armed conflicts, AFSPA, Right to Life, Participation of Women in Governance and Tribal Land Protection Rights.
Apart from sharing views and opinions from among the participants, various recommendations were also adopted to address the grievances on human rights violation for better human dignity of our future life and society during the programme.
Besides several leaders of Churches, Communities, Students, Women organizations and Village Chiefs, V.Shatsang, General Secretary ATSUM; Hechin Haokip, Secretary, Centre for Women and Girls (CWG) & Convener of District Women Committee-UNM-M, Chandel; Vum Khongsai, President of Thadou Students Association, Chandel and Vincent Zo, President ZSP also attended the programme.
