Imphal, January 18 2015:
Ministers, MLAs, top bureaucrats and high ranking government officials have been talking all these while about rooting out corruption from the State.
But the truth is that, they are the ones who indulged in corruption and favoritism; Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, president of PANDM, has alleged.
He was speaking on the occasion of celebrating the 5th Foundation Day of PANDM at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering as functional president, Dilipkumar said that the unabated incident of crime, violence and imposing of bandh and blockade have adversely affected peace and tranquility in the State which is unfortunate.
He said that the State is reeling under deep-rooted corruption thereby posing a potential threat to the collective growth and development.
He also admitted that it is not an easy task to root out corruption from the State.
Even the Chief Minister whom the people rested their faith is also involved in favoritism which is evident from the appointment of various government jobs, the president of PANDM charged.
Announcing that PANDM would be launching 'Zero Corruption Campaign' with the objective to wipe out corruption from the State, he appealed to the people to extend full support and co-operation to the campaign.
Referring to the discovery of skeletal remains and human skulls during excavation at the erstwhile complex of Tombisana High School on December 25 last, he urged that civil society organizations based in the State to exert pressure on the government for establishing veracity of the discovery case which has been handed over to CBI for investigation.
Sunday's foundation day celebration was also attended by RK Rajendra, former Member of Manipur Human Rights Commission and N Shanta, Managing Director of Manipur Finance & Business Limited as chief guest and guest of honor respectively.
H Ibotombi Khuman, convener of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) and advocate W Lata were present and spoke as resource persons on the occassion.
