Imphal, October 05 2012:
As done throughout the world, World Teachers' Day was celebrated under the auspice of All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association (AMESTA) at Manipur Press Club here today.
Speaking on the occasion, T Rameshwar, President of AMESTA, pointed out that Primary teachers, Hindi Primary and Hindi Graduate teachers, who were given regular appointment orders in December 2011, have not yet received their salaries till date while graduate teachers who were also recruited under RMSA have not been given their salaries for the last 11 months.
Instead of encouraging the newly recruited teachers, such conduct of the State Government has demoralized the teachers.
So, the aggrieved teachers would be launching a poster campaign against non-payment of salaries very soon, he announced.
Shantikumar, member of AMESTA, stressed on the need to think and look upon teachers as social reformers.
The celebration was also attended by W Ibohal, H Kelani, Md Basir, Ebochouba and Shanta Sharma, who are members of AMESTA, as presidium members.
