CPI bats for Pvt sector employees

CPI, Manipur State Council has urged the State Government to take up appropriate step to ensure that monthly salaries/wages of employees/workers in private institutions are not deprived in any manner.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 150th birth anniversary of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin which was held today at Irawat Bhawan, BT Road here, CPI, MSC secretary L Sotinkumar further stated that the State Government needs to consider the hardships faced by employees/labourers working in private institutions and come out with a suitable mechanism or policy to ensure that their monthly salaries/wages are given in time by their institutions and offices.
The CPI veteran leader also demanded the Government to address the adverse impacts of the prolonged closure of schools in the State through effective implementation of e-learning and other feasible means.
He said that the Government should not compromise education in any circumstance while maintaining that the State and the whole country must learn lessons from the way China implemented e-learning system and the Vietnamese way of imparting education to children during Vietnam War.
Decrying that the capitalists and businessmen in the State have been given free hands amidst the lockdown, Sotinkumar went on to criticise that businessmen and capitalists have been taking the contract works of highly profitable business like importing betel leaves instead of importing medical equipment and essential commodities for the public.
He then asked the State Government to strictly implement the guidelines while distributing PDS items in all Constituencies to address public dissatisfaction over the same task and to ensure that no one is deprived of their share.
While pointing out that labourers and working class people are mostly affected by the ongoing lockdown, Sotinkumar further urged the State Government to ensure smooth functioning of MGNREGA and disburse all the wages to workers/beneficiaries without holding back any per cent.
Lauding the medical staff, healthcare workers, security forces and paramilitary forces for their tireless work in fighting against the COVID-19, the CPI, MSC secretary appealed all to take up preventive measures such as maintaining physical distance and hygiene.
He also claimed that the CPI, MSC has been monitoring distribution of PDS items in the State and other COVID-19 related activities by opening local monitoring cells.
Highlighting the importance of observing the birth anniversary of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, Sotinkumar reminded that Vladimir Lenin was an iconic figure who fought against imperialism and inequality by spearheading the Great October Revolution and installed socialism in the Soviet Union.
