Meanwhile, on various demands including cancellation of allotment order of the land issued by the Revenue Dept, the Oinam Tangleihada Okshoi Grazing Ground Protection Committee organised a sit-in protest today at Oinam Bazar, Bishnupur district.
The sit-in was held from 9.30 am to 3 pm.
The protesters also raised several slogans during the demonstration.
Speaking to reporters at the sit-in, adviser of the Committee, Oinam Hemanta said that the Shamushang Oinam Tangleihada Okshoi Grazing Ground under Oinam AC has been a grazing ground for the surrounding villagers since time immemorial.
The total area of the grazing ground is about 128 paris.
Out of this, about 75 paris are allotted to the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Dept by the Revenue Dept through an order on Nov 25, 2014, Hemanta said.
The Govt order was issued without obtaining prior consent of the people concerned.
Even the local MLA was not informed about the allotment, he further said.
A memorandum demanding the cancellation of the order was submitted to the Govt after locals held a series of meeting regarding the allotment of the land to the Vety Dept.
However, no positive response has been coming forth till date, Hemanta pointed out.
An ultimatum was also submitted to the CM, Vety&AH Minister and local MLA on Jan 12 demanding them to act positively to the demands before Jan 27 .
The Committee's adviser conveyed that the 48 hour Tiddim road bandh would be imposed from 5 am of Jan 28 as a prelude to several forms of agitation it has lined up if no positive action is coming from the authority concerned by Jan 27 .
Among others, the demands of the Committee include allotment of the whole area of Oinam Oksoipat Grazing Ground to the Oinam Oksoi Grazing Ground Protection Committee and to transfer the jurisdiction of the land from village No 116-Shamushang of Imphal West district to village No 30-Oinam of Bishnupur district.
