The all Manipur Students� Union (AMSU) which is one of the bodies spearheading the agitation against the NSCN(IM0 ceasefire extension in Manipur today announced a series of measures to be taken up by students till the Centre revokes the ceasefire extension.
Speaking to reporters at Hotel Nirmala this evening, AMSU ex-general secretary Premananda Yumnam appealed to all educational institutions to stage a statewide protest on July 31 in front of their institutions against the NSCN (IM) truce.
He urged all the schools to initiate one minute mourning and slogan shouting after proceedings of the school assemblies everyday till the people�s demand are met.
Spelling the three slogans to be used as �long live Manipur�, �No ceasefire extension in Manipur� and �No disintegration of Manipur�, he made a fervent appeal to all the school representatives to ensure that the measure is implemented.
On the proposed move to surrender text books by school and college students to the Governor opposing the Centre�s move, Premananda said a date will be fixed very soon.
He asked all the students to come to the AMSU HQs at DM College campus on the date to be announced later on and deposit their books during 10 am to 10.30 am.
The former general secretary said that steps like suspension of classes will be taken up in due course of time.
He said that a joint team of AMSU, All Tripura Students Union and All Assam Students Union will be leaving Imphal for Delhi tomorrow to step up the campaign against the ceasefire extension.
He made a fervent appeal to all Nagaland based organizations not to oppose the movement of Manipuri people and check spread of unfounded rumors.
Any obstacle to the movement will be faced in a democratic manner.
