A mammoth cycle rally participated by tens of thousands of people wound its way through the valley area to protest against the NSCN (IM) cease fire extension to Manipur.
The cyclists were divided into Groups A and Groups B and they covered different routes.
The rally was organized under the overall aegis of the UCM.
Groups A comprising of cyclists from Wangkhei, Kshetrigao, Thongju, Keirao and Andro Kendra started from the Wangkhei Pujah Lampak at 7 am.
The cycle rally started from the Lampak and passed through Kongba bazar, Irilbung, Wangkhem, Sana Bazar and then took the Yairipok road.
The rally proceeded through Huikap, Andro, Nongdam and then turned towards Lamlai bazar from Napet Palli on the Imphal-Ukhrul road.
At Lamlai Bazar, members of Group B who had started their rally from Chandam Lampak near Lamlong Bridge joined Group A and they together proceeded through Sawombung, Lamlong Bazar, Lamlong Bridge, Stadium road.
Khongnang Ani Karak, Lilashing Khongnangkhong, Khoyathong, Naga Mapal, Uripok-Kangchup road, Naoremthong, Tera bazar, Kwakeithel, Khagempalli, Nambul Mapal, Keishamthong, Yaiskul, Jamnasthan, Singjamei, Brahmapur Nahabam and assembled at Palace ground.
Earlier Group B after starting from Chandam Lampak passed through Pangei, Khundrakpam, Yumnam Khunou, Pukhao, Sagolmang, Uyumpok, Keibi, Tarek Khul, Sawombung, Lamlai, Yaingangpokpi and then turned back towards Lamlai bazar.
The Assam Manipuri Students Union and the Dimasa welfare Society organized a rally against the cease fire extension at Haflong.
A memorandum was also submitted to the DC by the protestors after the rally.
A rally organized by the United Rural Economic Development, Salungpham was held at Salungpham and its adjoining areas today.
School students and Tangkhul villagers took part in the 7000 strong rally.
A public meeting was also held after the rally where AMSU and MSF leaders addressed the gathering.
The meeting resolved to take up a series of agitation until the cease fire extension is revoked.
A rally was also held from Thongju Boroi Makhong till Chingamathak and later tuned back Towards MU main gate at Canchipur.
A boat rally against the truce extension to Manipur was held today at Loktak Lake.
Hundreds of women, men and children took out their personal boats and staged the boat rally around Chingkha Thanga Ngaram.
