Additional DGP Peter has assured to deploy adequate security including Manipur Rifles and IRB personnel tomorrow to escort more than 300 trucks presently stranded in Nagaland to Manipur.
The assurance was given to a delegation of transporters who met the officer at hi$ office chamber today.
The delegation comprised representatives of All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Onion, All Manipur 407 Mini Tata Owner cum Drivers Welfare Association, Manipur Truck Owners Welfare Assn and Manipur Drivers Welfare Association.
A spokesman of the All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union said that the Addl DGP told the delegation that majority of the forces would be from IRB.
Army convoys proceeding to the State on the day would also escort the State forces.
An additional force of three BSF companies have already left Imphal, Peter said adding that BSF personnel would conduct ROP on both sides along the NH 39 from tomorrow.
Giving the latest position of the trucks, the spokesman said that around 170 trucks are stranded at Zakhama while 260 vehicles are putting up at Khatkhati.
