Imphal, December 10 2010:
Saluting the brave martyrs and leaders of the Nupi Lan, women wing of the proscribed RPF/PLA has pledged to carry on the struggle in line with the aspirations of those brave martyrs to establish a sovereign and egalitarian society in Manipur.
In a press statement issued on the eve of the 71st anniversary of the Nupi Lan, RPF Women Wing Assistant Secretary Kanon observed that it was because of the inspirations given by the two historic Nupi Lans that many women today took up arms to fight against the alien rule.
To the people of Manipur, there is no difference between 'brown masters' and 'white masters' .
All the basic characteristics of being a colony such as non-local people taking control of administration, robbing local people's employment avenues by bringing hordes of non-local people, obliteration of indigenous culture and tradition, transformation of the entire State as a sort of captive market, exploitation of local resources, breeding economic dependency, creating fissures and divisions among the indigenous people are being witnessed in the State.
All these elements testify that Manipur is reeling under a colonial rule.
Elections being held after every five years cannot simply claim that the people of Manipur are enjoying democracy.
Even as the people are allowed to exercise their right to vote, the State has the power to forfeit the people's right to life in the form of AFSPA.
In short, the law of the land permits killing its people.
While the political leaders are unfailingly extending disturb area status after regular intervals, people of the land are suffering all kinds of harassments at the hands of security forces, Kanon asserted.
The only way out from this misery is a people's war.
Without war, the people could not realise any of their aspirations and wishes.
This is glaringly testified by the total indifference of the State towards Sharmila's unparalleled campaign and the continuous movement of the Meira Paibis.
While ignoring all the wishes and aspirations of the people, those at the helm of affairs and the few privileged class have been looting the public and are indulging themselves neck-deep in bribery and rampant corruption.
They have the hearts to rob the impoverished people off PDS items entitled to them even at this time of heightened conflict situation.
Under such circumstances, their call for peace would find no takers.
Given an opportunity, they would not hesitate to make Khuman Lampak sports complex their private property.
The alien rulers and their collaborators have been unleashing all kinds of repressive measures against the people economically, politically and socially.
This repressive measures should be challenged with a Nupi Lan based on a strong current of revolution with minimum elements of reformation.
Stating that this war has started prior to 1980, Kanon asserted the alien rulers' covert warfare should be met with overt war of the people.
At such critical juncture, there should be no place of factionalism, sycophancy, and groupism.
Women of the land should not be swayed by security forces' trickery of presenting some gifts or invitation to some grand feasts etc.
Reminding that all the people of Manipur are living under colonial yoke, the outfit called upon all women of the land to unite together.
"Only the united strength and collective struggle of the people can win back the lost sovereignty of Manipur", iterated the RPF Women Wing Assistant Secretary.
