Ati Vishist Seva medal for Maj Gen Konsam Himalaya

The President of India has conferred the award of Ati Vishist Seva Medal to Major General Konsam Himalaya Singh, YSM, who commanded an infantry division in the Line of Control (LOC) in Rajouri and Poonch area recently.
This award is conferred for the most distinguished service during his command of the division on the LOC in Jammu & Kashmir.
A graduate of Defence Service Staff College, Wellington and National Defence College New Delhi, Major General Konsam has held many prestigious appointments in a career spanning over three decades.
Among the various key appointments he has held include Assistant Military Secretary and Director Personal Policy in the Army HG.
Major General Himalaya is a Master in Defence Studies from Madras University.
He also completed Master in Management Studies with Distinction from Osmania University, Hyderabad and M.Phil in Strategic Studies from Madras University.
Presently, he is the senior most serving Military officer from Manipur and posted as the Chief of Staff of an Active Corps.
Major Gen Himalaya commanded the 27 Rajput during Kargil war for which he was awarded Youth Seva Medal (YSM), a decoration awarded for leading successful operations during the Kargil war.
