The government of Manipur has failed to extend the much expected assistance in the form of government jobs and ex-gratia, as assured by the chief minister in his office chamber during a meeting with bereaved families, stated a memorandum submitted to the chief minister today by the next of kin of the two persons who were killed in the arson and violence perpetrated by armed miscreants on October 23, 2008 .
Though the government of Manipur had agreed to provide jobs and ex-gratia to the next of kin of the two victims, the families had not received any form of assistance so far from the side of the government, which is making it very difficult to make both ends meets for her, her three years old daughter and ten months old son, said Dingenang Gonmei, w/o Robert Gonmei, who was one of the two persons killed in the incident.
To register the long standing demand for jobs and ex-gratia to the next of kin of the victims, a sit-in protest was held by Rongmei Lu Phuam (RLP), a Rongmei women organization, on Saturday at Grace Academy colony, Langol Tarung, Senapati district.
The president of RLP, Mrs Panti Gonmei stated that if the Manipur state government, government of India and government of Assam do not extend help at the earliest, the RLP and the people will start public agitation soon.

Ginthailu Gangmei were killed by unidentified armed miscreants who set ablaze a passenger bus in which they were traveling on October 23, 2008 at Lahorijan under Kharkhati Bokajan police out post in Karbi Anglong district of Assam.
