Retired top officials urged to join Covid fight

Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC former MLA RK Anand has appealed to retired officers of state health department, retired IAS officers and bureaucrats to come out and help the government in the fight against COVID-19 so that the virus could be contained with the collective effort.
RK Anand made this appeal on the sidelines of an inspection visit to Pitambara English School at Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi where a Community Home Isolation Centre has been opened by 11 clubs and organisations.
The former MLA handed over cash and edible items including sugar, milk, egg, biscuit and drinking water to the isolation centre opened since May 20 .
He said that the isolation centre could be opened at the school after local clubs and organisations along with him mounted pressure on the government.
The former MLA also thanked volunteers of clubs and organisations of Kwakeithel area for coming out to run the isolation centre successfully.
While lauding chief minister N Biren Singh's initiative of conducting mass testing in view of increasing positive cases in the state, RK Anand appealed to people to come out for testing without any fear.
He also expressed hope that spread of the virus could be contained if people found positive during mass testing are separated and kept at treatment centre.
Later, RK Anand also distributed edible items to families living within containment zones of Langthabal Tarahei, Kwakeithel Akham Leikai and ISKCON complex.
