Chandel, August 25 2013:
While expressing concern and strong protest over repeated attempts made by Myanmarese Authority to encroach upon the land on India's side, particularly at Haolenphai, a Village located just adjacent to the disputed Border Pillar No.76, Thangbung Minou village Authority, however, has refuted the claim of Lalkholun Haokip, Chief of Holenphai that the settlement in Holenphai started since 1992 .
Chief of Thangbung Minou village Ts Thurhring asserted that the claim of Chief of Holenphai Lalkholun Haokip that settlement at Haolenphai started since 1992 is baseless, said that there was no village or anybody settling in the area until the time villagers of Thangbung Minou got themselves displaced on the 22/4/1993 due to Kuki-Naga ethnic violence.
Alleging Lalkholun Haokip of founding an illegal village under the name Haolenphai, Ts Thurhring maintained that Thangbung Minou is the right authority to give clear and right information pertaining to the said disputed area.
Pointing out that Lalkholun Haokip is not a resident of Thangbung Minou or Chandel District, Chief of Thangbung Minou went on to inform that a case is still pending against Lalkholun Haokip for establishing an illegal village within Thangbung Minou without prior consent and agreement in accordance to the customary law of the Nagas.
