Imphal, February 17 2015:
All Manipur Primary Teachers' Association (AMPTA) has appealed to the authorities concerned to sanction the pending salaries of the teachers.
According to a statement of AMPTA, the State Finance Department issued an order on January 6 this year for relaxation of 1379 primary teachers, 175 Hindi primary teachers, 568 upper primary teachers (SSA) and 2137 primary teachers (SSA) from the purview of MGEL and for sanction of their salaries up to the month of February.
The Directorate of Education (S) also issued an office memorandum in this regard.
However, the Treasury Officers are refusing to pass the sanction order for salaries of the primary teachers on ground of lacking required clearance from the Finance Department.
The teachers are now made the scapegoats in the tussle between the Directo-rate of Education (S) and the Directorate of Treasury.
The incomplete updation of MGEL is the fault of Education (S) Department and Finance Department (MIS).
The teachers are deprived of their rights simply because of the faults of the government machineries, it said.
AMPTA also urged the State Education Minister and other officials concerned to look into this issue and release the salaries of the teachers at the earliest.
