New DG AR meets Guv during his visit

Imphal, July 13 2018:
Lieutenant General Sukhdeep Sangwan, SM**, Director General Assam Rifles along with Sangeeta Sangwan, president, Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association and Major General Virendra Singh, VSM, IGAR (South) met the Governor Najma Heptulla on his two day visit to the State today.
The General Officer complemented the Governor for portraying Manipur in a befitting manner in the recent NEC Summit and expressed his grief over the recent landslides in Tamenglong district, which claimed seven precious lives.
The Governor articulated the need for indigenous plantation to counter the issue of soil erosion and deforestation in the State.
Speaking of the Act East policy and its implementation, the General Officer put forth the importance of establishing peace in the North East States.
The Governor expressed that there is a huge difference in the situation of North East region and Jammu & Kashmir and appreciated the role played by the Assam Rifles in preventing a similar scenario in Manipur.
The meeting between the DGAR and the Governor proved fruitful where Governor praised the efforts made by the Assam Rifles in saving precious lives during the recent floods.
