Imphal, April 10 2019:
Informing that the High Court of Manipur has given necessary permission, the Family Committee for Observation of 13 April has appealed to the people to take part in paying floral tributes and respects at the memorial tribute on top of Chieraoching, Thangmeiband, on April 13-Athoubasingi Numit.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, one of the petitioners of the committee, Naorem Ibohanbi (brother of late Naorem Rajen) appealed to the people to take part in the ceremony which will be held at the memorial structure on top of Chieraoching and added that necessary approval has been taken from the High Court of Manipur as well.
Informing that the event will begin from 6 am and conclude at 5 pm, he also appealed to all those concerned not to call any bandh or strike on the said day.
On the other hand, petitioner Advocate Ch Ngongo informed that nine families filed a petition to the High Court of Manipur to grant permission to pay floral tributes to the deceased individuals at the memorial structure and on April 5, the High Court issued an order approving the appeal of the families.
The High Court order further mentioned that no obstruction will be posed to the family members as well as the people coming to pay floral tributes but necessary security measures will be taken up to ensure law and order.
In the past, the event usually started at 8 or 9 am but this year, the event has been approved for starting at 6 am, he added.
He then explained that the said families had written to the Chief Secretary and the Principal Secretary (Home) on January 3 and again on March 7 seeking permission for the event, but no reply came from the authority.
As such, the petition was filed to the High Court instead, he explained.
