CM hails NRC inclusion in manifesto

Claiming that BJP National leaders respect the voice of the people of Manipur and the North East, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has credited the people of Manipur for the assurance to safeguard the social, linguistic and cultural identity of the people and to extend NRC in Manipur, in the BJP election manifesto.
Speaking to media persons at BJP Manipur State unit office at Nityaipat Chuthek today, N Biren Singh said that he would like to credit the people of Manipur and to thank them for ensuring that the BJP National leaders hear the sentiment and voice of the people of the North East.
He then explained that considering the voice of the people against the CAB, point number 7 of the BJP election manifesto assures, to extend NRC in all corners of the country, not just Assam, to protect the indigenous people and to identify the illegal migrants.
The CM continued that the earlier appeal by the State Government, following a Cabinet decision, to extend NRC in Manipur, has now become a reality in the manifesto and added that he would like to thank the people of Manipur for the positive steps taken by the BJP National leaders.
On the other hand, regarding the fear that passing of CAB will lead to extinction of the indigenous people, Biren said that point number 12 of the manifesto clearly mentions that the cultural, socio and linguistic identities of the people will be safeguarded.
Explaining further that various steps to be taken up for the protection of the indigenous people after passing the CAB are clearly mentioned in point number 29 of the BJP election manifesto as well, Biren assured that BJP State unit will not stand against the demand and sentiment of the people.
BJP State unit will work tirelessly for the protection of the indigenous people and lauded the people for monitoring and ensuring proper and fair administration by the Government.
