Imphal, December 05 2013:
In a bid to strengthen the ties between the hill and the valley people, United Committee Manipur (UCM) presented solar lamp, mosquito nets and other aids to villagers of Hoomi village in Ukhrul district yesterday.
The presented materials included one solar street lamp, 35 mosquito nets, one 500 ml sintex and five bags of pea and mustard seeds.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Chandramani Khuman, vice-president of UCM, said the materials were provided to villagers with the hope of strengthening the relationship between the hill and the valley, which seems to have been slacken of late due to various pressures from all sides.
He stated that the UCM does not differentiate between the poor and the rich as well as caste and creed among the different communities.
It only strives for the unification of the hill and the valley people and stand firmly for the protection of territorial integrity of Manipur.
Maintaining that people of different communities have been protecting the territorial integrity of the State since time immemorial, Chandramani asserted that some disgruntled sections of the society have been, however, trying to break the integrity of the State and appealed to all to unite in fighting against such threats.
Aphang Kengoo, ex-headmaster of Hoomi Junior High School lauded the UCM for rendering the service of a Good Samaritan to the needy and neglected villagers of Hoomi.
