Imphal, December 05 2013:
The three-day Winter Mela organised by NGOs with the objective of facilitating differently abled persons showcase their skills in handloom and handicraft professions concluded today at Tera Primary School campus.
The closing ceremony was held with Deputy Commissioner (Imphal West) K Radhakumar and Additional Director (Commerce and Industry) V Tualthang as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Director (Law and Prosecution) Ng Tejkumar was also present at the occasion.
Presenting that presidential address, Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons' president Opendro said next year the fair would be organised on a larger scale to accommodate participation of no less than 100 stalls.
Contrary to this year's target for setting up 20 stalls for displaying handloom and handicraft items made by the differently abled persons the number of stalls had to be increased to 30 due to huge response, he added.
The fair was jointly organised by the Centre, Life Line Trust Centre, Handicapped Welfare Society, Leima Leiteng (Tera Lukram Leirak) and Chaokhat Khongthang Self Help Group for Handicapped Persons.
