Devt Photos receives arousing welcome at Wangjing

Keeping up the campaign for dissemination of information about the various centrally-sponsored projects in Manipur, a five-day photo exhibition on the theme of 'Development Initiatives in North East' kicked-off Tuesday at Wangjing Lamding Market Complex in Thoubal District.
The exhibition which would continue till December 8 is being organized by Field Exhibition Office, Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Imphal in collaboration with Wangjing Lamding Nagar Panchayat.
Inaugurating the five-day long campaign as Chief Guest, Tongbram Biswamitra highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by Government of India for the welfare of the public.
Appreciating DAVP for organizing the campaign that aimed at creating awareness amongst the people, the Chief Guest called upon the people of Wangjing-Lamding area to visit the exhibition so as to have a better understanding of programmes and policies of the government.
Biswamitra also noted that the construction of the beautiful market complex at Wangjing Lamding has been financed by Union Ministry of Urban Development.
Inspired by the vast collection of photos that are on displayed, H Gourango Singh, Vice Chairperson, Wangjing Lamding Nagar Panchayat observed that the exhibition is a good platform to learn many new things.
"We can learn many things from the exhibition as the pictures are in itself a good source of knowledge", said Gourango Singh.
Th Maniton Singh, Social Worker, who presided over inaugural function, also highlighted the development perspectives that have been witnessed down the years.
The exhibition, with a collection of 120 photographs from the North East region has attracted many visitors.
"The exhibition has enriched my knowledge" said Bimola, a student.
Another visitor was overwhelmed to see those beautiful pictures which gave her a new view of the North East.
Giving the purpose of the exhibition, Dr Gin Gangte, IIS, Field Exhibition Officer, DAVP, Imphal said that the campaign is aimed at creating awareness of the public about the various development schemes undertaken by the Government of India.
The Field Exhibition Officer also highlighted the campaign that has been successfully organized during the past 3/4 months at Mayang Imphal, Wangoi, Lilong, Lamsang, Bishnupur, Nambol and Ukhrul.
Dr Gin Gangte appealed to the public to visit the exhibition hall for a better understanding of the North East, as well as the programmes & policies of the Government of India.
