SKY Hospital successfully performed a highly specialised interventional cardiac procedure called Percutaneous Mitral Balloon Valvuloplasty (PMB V) on a 47 year old person, L Menai on June 24 of Lamlong Khunou, Chandel district.
A press release issued today by the PRO of Sky Hospital and Research Centre stated that the patient had been suffering from severe rheumatic mitral stenosis of the heart for a long time, which restricts normal blood flow through the valve and the heart, preventing him from performing his normal duties including office work.
The patient is recovering and will be able to resume normal duties soon, it added and pointed out that such non operative balloon valvuloplasty is provided free of cost at Sky Hospital for patients below 18 years of age.
