Gang busted, modus operandi laid bare

Along with arresting two gangsters, personnel of Lamphel Police Station have busted a gang whose modus operandi sounds like a straight lift from a crime thriller, with the members moving around in uniform resembling the State security forces (MR/IRB) and loot passers-by.
Talking to mediapersons in this connection today, Officer in-charge of Lamphel Police Station, Inspector Ingocha Singh said that the two gang members were arrested following a complaint from a man who came in car that his money and and other valuables have been looted.
Identifying the two arrested gang members as Chingangbam Dinachandra alias Amumacha (29) s/o late Topten of Naoremthong Khullen Leikai and Sagolsem Naoba alias Chandrajit (28) s/o Achouba, of the same locality, Inspector Inaocha informed that both were arrested together from Naoba's house on April 1 at around 8 pm.
Another gang member is still at large, the Inspector said, adding that it has been established that all the three gang members were involved in looting a man coming on a Maruti Esteem after hijacking it from near the Settlement Office (behind Imphal West DC office complex) along Lamphel-Langol Road and taken to RIMS Gymkhana at around 7.30 pm on March 7.The three gang members looted Rs 500 in cash, one mobile phone and the music system of the car.

The gang members were clad like the uniform of State security forces and took the man towards the Gymkhana after being told that he was being arrested for hitting the son of their officer, the Inspector narrated.
One Olive green colour jersey and one motorcycle (Hero Honda CBZ bearing registration no.MN-05B/0537), used by the gang members, as well as the stolen car tape and have been recovered, the police officer disclosed, adding that an FIR case has been registered against the arrested two gang members.
