College teachers will go on mass casual leave on Oct 5: AMCTA

At the call of the All India Federation of Univer-sity & College Teachers' Organisations (AIFUCTO), the college teachers of Manipur under the banner of AMCTA will take casual leave on October 5 to protest against the anti-teacher and anti-education attitude of the Government of India.
On this day, university and college teachers across the country will observe "Mass Casual Leave" in support of AIFUCTO's demands, a statement informed.
AIFUCTO, the apex body has urged the university and college teachers across the country to go on 'Mass Casual Leave' on the eve of "International Teachers Day" on October 5 demanding early and teachers friendly 7th UGC Pay Review Committee Report and withdrawal of negative and undemocratic aspects of the proposed New Education Policy, 2016 (NEP) .
Important demands of AIFUCTO include, total scrapping of API to ensure promotion of young teachers, fill up all vacant posts on permanent basis, extend date for participation of Orientation Course/Refresher Courses upto December, 2016, to withdraw New Pension Scheme 2004 and to ensure pension for all, to remove the anomalies of 5th and 6th Pay Commissions, relaxation in promotion for blind and disabled in-service teachers, it informed.
