AR seizes smuggled items

Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles foiled a cross border smuggling attempt and recovered narcotics from Chikkim village in Moreh on January 31 .
At around 3 pm yesterday, a long range surveillance teams spotted a women sneaking past the Moreh check post from across the border and alerted the nearest unit, which intercepted her near Chikkim village, said a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
373 grams of 'Brown Sugar' concealed in 30 soap cases were recovered from the drug trafficker, who was identified as one Nemneilhing, a resident of Matijang village in Churachandpur, added the statement.
The recovered contraband along with the trafficker were handed over to Moreh Police for further investigation, added the statement.

Battalion recovered illegally smuggled footwear in Tengnoupal on
January 31 .
Troops of Assam Rifles spotted few individuals skirting the vehicle check post at Tengnoupal and headed towards a jungle track.
On checking the troops found nine packages of illegally smuggled 350 pairs of footwear abandoned in the jungle, added the statement.
The recovered items were handed over to Customs Department for further investigation, added the statement.
