PMEGP exhibition underway

The inaugural function of the 10-day long exhibition of the state level Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) was held at G..MHall Complex, Imphal today.
The exhibition is being organized by the Manipur Khadi and Village Board, Lamphelpat under the sponsorship of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Imphal.
Principal Secretary (Commerce & Industries) O.Nabakishore, who was the chief guest of the inaugural function, highlighted the importance of Indian products in foreign markets and how our goods are highly demanded by them.
But it is unfortunate that much of our products cannot be exported to other nations, he said.
He asked the companies and producer of goods in the state to keep their hopes up and make more and better products as the state's Tulihal airport is soon turning internationalised.
He said that the import-export business could improve if this step is taken up sooner.
The state government along with the External Affairs, Government of India, should try to abolish PAP system in Manipur for the free flow of tourists into the state as the number could increase tremendously once the airport is internationalized.
He further added that the government is planning to set up a permanent internal exhibition hall at New Checkon by next year.
The Principal Secretary also gave to the people with the repairing works of the Tamu-Mandalay roads and bridges starting soon.
Stating that our state Manipur is a land rich in raw materials, V.Tualthang, Additional Director of Commerce & Industries as well as the guest of honour of the function said that the people of the state should try to get the most benefits from schemes like the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) which is a project initiated by the Indian Government to reduce the rate of rural people's migration to the urban areas in search of jobs.
The scheme however is provided all over India, both in the rural as well as the urban.
Vice-Chairman, Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board, S.Achouba Singh was also present in the function as the president along with guests of honour, S.Ingobi Singh, Secretary, Manipur Khadi & V..IBoard and Rualkhumi, Deputy Director, KVIC, Imphal.
