Altogether 231 candidates filed papers for 32 assembly and the lone Lok Sabha constituencies in Sikkim as the filing of nomination ended on Thursday.
On the final day of filing of nomination, 70 candidates filed their papers for the assembly constituencies in the four districts, while independent candidate RC Poudyal filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha constituency, election office sources said.
Thirty-three candidates filed their nominations for the assembly polls in East Sikkim today, while the number of nominations in West, South and North Sikkim stood at 18, 17 and three respectively.
Sources said, a total of 224 nominations had been filed for the 32 assembly constituencies, while seven candidates filed their nominations for the lone Lok Sabha constituency in the state.
The maximum nominations had been filed in East Sikkim with a record 97 figure - from 13 assembly constituencies, while the lowest number of nominations were received in North Sikkim - 12 from three assembly constituencies.
While 58 candidates had filed their nominations from eight assembly constituencies in West Sikkim, 57 candidates submitted their papers from eight assembly constituencies in South Sikkim, sources said.
For the lone Lok Sabha constituency in Sikkim, as many as seven candidates already filed their nomination papers.
The scrutiny of nomination papers for the assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Sikkim will take place on April 11 .
