Troops of the 3 Assam Rifles recovered one Improvised Explosive device (IED) and about 49,400 tablets of Relipen from different places of Churachandpur district.
The IED was recovered on April 16 from under a culvert near Molbenn village by an AR team who were carrying out area sanitization for safe conduct of the Lok Sabha election, informed a PIB (DW) release.
The IED weighing about 1 kg was safely exploded thereby averting possible disruption of the elections as was intended by militants, it added.
The Relipen tablets were recovered on April 15 afternoon from Rengkai area of the Churachandpur headquarters based on information provided by unit sources, the release said and named one Easter as the carrier of the tablets.
The recovered tablets estimated at about Rs 9.8 lakhs have been burnt in the presence of police representatives and local leaders, it added.
