Imphal, April 17 2009:
Re-polling in four polling stations has been scheduled for Saturday, April 18 from 7 a.m.to 4 p.m.even as Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are being brought to the respected district headquarters (HQs).
A press release of the chief electoral officer (CEO) informed, the fresh polling or re-polling of four polling stations viz.
No.44/40-Nungshong Khullen of 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC, NO.51/48-Dolang Khunou of 51-Saitu (ST) AC, No.53/9-Tamenglong HQ (A) of 53-Tamenglong (ST) Ac and NO.59/30-Tuibong (MW) of No.59-Saikot (ST) AC has been rescheduled on April 18 between 07.00 am to 4.00p.m.The CEO also called upon the Returning Officer to make necessary arrangements for the fresh poll/re-poll and the Police Department to make appropriate security arrangements for the conduct of the re-poll.
The CEO also requested all members of public and political parties, candidates and agents to take note of the above and make necessary arrangements for participation for timely and satisfactory completion of re-poll/fresh poll.
Meanwhile, EVMs are being brought to the respective district headquarters post voting.
An official source of the election commission informed EVMs were being down to the district headquarters concerned Friday.
However, not all EVMs have been brought, the official clarified.
Till 5 p.m.Friday, 108 EVMs reached Chandel HQ, 129 EVMs from three assembly segments reached Ukhrul HQ, 35 in Tamenglong, 175 out of 249 in Churachandpur district, 177 from three assembly segment in Senapati HQ while all 206 EVMs of Thoubal district have reached the district HQ.
More EVMs are yet to reach the district HQs, informed the official of the election commissioner.
