Agitated MIT students launched hunger strike

Demanding removal of Dr Th Kulachandra, the present Principal in-charge of the Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT) and to replacing him by a new one, the students of MIT intensified their agitation along with launching mass hunger strike from today.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, the agitating students informed that the hunger strike agitation thus launched from today by the students of Communication Science, Electronics and Communication and Civil Engineering would continue till the demand for removal of the present Principal in-charge of MIT is fulfilled.
They further informed that Dr Th Kulachandra has been the Principal in-charge of MIT for the last 12 years.
On a yearly basis, around 400 students get enrolled in the institute.
An amount of Rs 6000 is charged from the students at the time of admission as College Development fund.
However, no development programme has been taken up during the last 12 years and there is apprehension that around Rs 1.8 crores may have been misused.
They also stated that funds collected from the students for printing magazines of the college has also been misused since no magazines of the college has been printed during the last 12 years.
Apart from this, no facilities for training and placement have been provided to the students even though Rs 500 each is collected from every student during admission every year.
The Principal in-charge also used abusive words even to girl students of the college when they approach him to look after infrastructures of the girls hostel, the students charged.
