Assam Rifles flags off archaeological expedition

Imphal, March 21 2012:
A joint exploration team from the department of History, Manipur University and Archeological Survey of India, Guwahati Circle, Assam was flagged off by Brig Upendra Dwivedi, Commander 26 Sector AR at Pallel on March 20 .
The team was led by NJK Singh of DM College of Science, Imphal which will be carrying out exploration of the Khummonum, Phoikon Hosabee caves in the Sajik Valley.
This is the third time within the past year that such an exploration will be taking place in the Sajik Valley.
A similar joint team led by NJK Singh had carried out a three day expedition in May last year in this area and an 18 member team from the Kuki Research Forum had visited the caves in Feb this year.
35 Assam Rifles provided administrative and environmental assistance to these teams, a PRO IGAR (S) release stated.
