Imphal, July 17 2018:
A press note issued by M Tomba Singh, general secretary, Manipur Drivers' Welfare Association, has stated that weighing of vehicle operating along NH 37, Imphal-Jiribam road, has been made mandatory which has created immense hardship for the drivers as there are no other weigh bridge besides that of the FCI.
All the vehicle have to queue up for days to weigh their vehicles which created delays in timely deliverance of essential commodities to the public.
The arrangement is little hasty as there are no enough weighbridge when compared to the goods carrying vehicle operating on the highway.
He urged the Department concerned to look into the matter at the earliest, so that the vehicles carrying goods won't be detained on the highway.
He also pointed out that the Imphal-Dimapur road NH-2 is also in closure now and delaying in deliverance of essential commodities from NH-37 route will add to the suffering of the public.
