Sky Hospital attains new feat in cardiac care

In the first of its kind cardiac surgery in Manipur, an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD), a small device that can be placed in the chest or abdomen to treat irregular heartbeats, was successfully placed in the heart of A Basanta Sharma (58), son of late A Jatishor of Thangmeiband at SKY Hospital, RIMS Road on February 12 .
Talking to media persons about this medical feat on Tuesday, Chief cardiologist of SKY Hospital Dr Shyamkishore said that SKY Hospital is equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities for cardiac care and the patients need not travel out of the state for three or six-month post operative care.
Generally people are not aware of heart disorders and they come to know only when a person does not wake up in the morning, and to avoid from sudden demise it is worthwhile to have regular check up when one experiences breathing problem or any form of discomfort, Shyamkishore added.
