Imphal, January 28 2021:
The Martyrs' Day will be observed at Gandhi Memorial Hall, Imphal on January 30 in the presence of Governor Najma Heptulla and Chief Minister N Biren Singh as chief guest and president of the observance respectively, said a statement of the Home Department today.
The Martyrs' Day will be observed in memory of those who gave their lives for India's freedom.
The observance will commence from 10.10 am .
Two sirens, one opening at 10.59 am till 11 am and another at 11.02 am till 11.03 am will be sounded and a 2-minute silence will be observed in between the two sirens from 11 am to 11.02 am .
During the 2-minute silence, vehicles along the "highway and campus areas will come to a standstill".
All citizens are requested to observe the 2-minute silence by standing up, said the press statement issued by Deputy Secretary (Home), Joel G Haokip.
Further, all Government servants working in offices located within Imphal Municipality area including Lamphelpat are requested to be present at GM Hall positively at 10 am of January 30, it said.
