Education Minister bats for vocationalisation of education

Education Minister Th Radheshyam has called upon teachers to give more thrust on vocational training to students and strengthen it in order to enhance individuals' employability and improve productivity.
He was speaking during the distribution function of lump sum grant to Government Aided and Private Colleges for implementation of Vocationalisation of Higher Education under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) organised by the Department of University & Higher Education, Manipur today at SSA Hall, Babupara.
Radheshyam urged teachers to contribute their might to facilitate vocationalisation of education so that individual's employability is enhanced.
Stressing the need to develop a high-quality skilled workforce relevant to current and emerging employment market needs, the Minister said that teachers have immense role to prepare students to compete in the job market even outside the State by imparting proper training on their chosen trades.
He further urged the teachers to perform their duties sincerely.
Dwelling on the need to promote research in educational institutions, Th Radheshyam said teachers should provide proper guidance to students and help them acquire specialised skills.
Amongst others, Commissioner (Higher and Technical Education) H Deleep Singh; Director, University and Higher Education, John B Tlangtinkhuma and Additional Director, University and Higher Education, Dr RK Yaiskul attended the programme.
The lump sum grant was distributed to 19 Government Aided and Private Colleges.
