AR organises convocation ceremony

Imphal, December 04 2019:
Sehlon Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a convocation ceremony for its first batch of students, who got trained and mastered in wool weaving at Tuitong Employment Generation Centre.
The function was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles, GoM, said a press release issued by PRO, IGAR.
Brig Joydip Mukherjee, DIG HQ 28 Sector Assam Rifles graced the occasion and distributed certificates to 40 female students, belonging to under privileged tribes of Samtal Salient.
The training was imparted to the villagers to make them self-reliant so as to gain economic independence and self sustenance.
The convocation ceremony began with a welcome speech by Khointum Baite followed by a group song by the tribal folk.
Brig Joydip Mukherjee, on his maiden visit to Tuitong, stressed on the importance of skill education for women in the region to drive away poverty.
The villagers attending the ceremony conveyed their gratitude to Assam Rifles for this unique initiative.
