Liyai village hit by worst flood ever

The continuing monsoon rainfall and heavy down pour of rain on the night of August 26, 2012 has caused the worst ever flood in Liyai Village and its surrounding areas.
According to a statement issued by Chairman of Liyai Village RS Punii Paul, the flood washed away all the small bridges, thus gravely affecting normal life of the village people.
Apart from causing disruption to construction work on the bridge over Barak River, the flood and its accompanying and landslides have also destroyed standings vegetables and paddy crops and most of the canals connecting to the paddy fields blocked.
The people of the village are in also grave conditions as the flood and landslides have destroyed several houses, bridges and all the roads connectivity, the village chairman said, while drawing the attention of the state government and other authorities concerned for taking up necessary remedial measures.
