IED found on Tiddim Road

Imphal, December 24 2011:
Police today successfully defused an IED which was found planted at the Road Median along the Tiddim Road near Mem Higher Secondary School, Ghari.
The bomb was first detected by sniffer dog of the 18th Sikh Regiment's patrol party around 11 am.
As soon as the bomb was detected, personnel of Lamphel Police rushed to the spot and blocked traffic along the highway.
Later bomb experts of Manipur Police came and successfully defused the IED at around 1.10 pm.
Police source said that the bomb was found planted in a thick plastic container weighing about 4 kg.
The IED was disfused at an open space at Lamphel area around 2 pm.
Police is still unsure who might have planted the bomb.
Meanwhile, unknown miscreants today deposited a hand grenade at the gate of EE MU Engineering Cell Sanasam Rajen of Thongju Pechu Lampak around 2.10 pm.
Bomb experts of Manipur Police later retrieved the bomb and detonated safely in Lilong Meetei Lamkhai area.
