Imphal, February 23 2012:
Close behind the heels of non-Congress parties, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has also objected to re-poll and submitted a representation to the ECI in this regard.
According to a reliable source, MPCC President Gaikhangam personally went to Delhi to submit the representation to the ECI.
The representation was finalized and drafted after a joint meeting with the leaders of Indian National Congress (INC) .
The representation highlighted that although there are reports of bogus voting in the recent election to the 10the Manipur State Legislative Assembly and re-poll had been conducted in some polling stations of the hill districts, it would be wiser on the part of ECI not to go ahead with another round of re-poll.
Ten non-Congress parties of the state have already pressed the ECI to desist from conducting re-poll and go ahead with counting of the votes as scheduled on March 6 by discarding all the bogus votes as invalid.
