Covid death toll rises to 32 in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, June 17 2021:
COVID-19 claimed two more lives in the district on Thursday, taking the death toll to 32 as the number of active cases continued to decline after six recovered patients were discharged in the last 24 hours.
The active caseload now stands at 68 .
One 42-year-old Thangjam Santa of Motbung Bazar and 60-year-old Chong-hoi alias Hadasha Singsit of Loibol Khunou Sajal village succumbed to COVID-19, pushing the death toll to 34.Both the victims were cremated and buried following strict COVID protocols.
Meanwhile, a joint team of CHC Saikul, Saikul Police, CSOs Saikul and Satang Area COVID Task Force jointly conducted contact tracing at Bilei village on Thursday.
In all, 27 contacts were tested and two were found COVID positive.
An interaction with the area CTF and village CTF was held during which the roles and responsibilities of the CTF in respect of awareness on COVID, contact tracing and testing, vaccination, home isolation/village isolation management and containment activities were imparted to the CTF.
Accordingly, an awareness-cum-outreach COVID vaccination will be held for 7 days in Satang area but the date, time and venue will be decided by Satang Area CTF.
A medical team led by Dr Pilhing, MO PHC Kalapahar, with CTF Keithelmanbi and Kangpokpi Police also conducted random mobile testing at Keithelmanbi on Thursday.
In all, 59 people including shopkeepers and auto drivers were tested and a woman from Keithelmanbi Ward no 9 was found positive for Covid-19.The combined team immediately put her in home isolation and declared the area as a containment zone.
A COVID vaccination drive was also conducted by COVID Task Force Kalapahar in collaboration with the medical team of PHC Kalapahar.
More than 130 people got vaccinated.
CTF Kalapahar has conveyed gratitude to local MLA Nemcha Kipgen for her generous response to the vaccination drive and the medical team under Dr Pilhing and the police team for their help.
Meanwhile, the chief executive officer, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council Kangpokpi has received two ambulances from chief minister N Biren Singh.
He informed that the Tribal Affairs and Hills Department placed orders for three ambulances including two BLS and ALS ambulances for six district councils to combat the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic and to improve health infrastructure in the hill districts.
The CEO further informed that for the first phase, two BLS ambulances each were handed over to the six district councils by the chief minister, adding that the ALS ambulance will be delivered by the company concerned in the last week of June.
