Body of missing baby fished out from pond

The frantic search for a one and a half years old Phanjoubam Leishemba, who disappeared without a trace since December 1, ended this early morning after the family found him dead in a pond after five days.
The family discovered him dead with his body half submerged in a pond around 7:30 am today.
The residential pond of one Langpoklakpam Bokul, is located a few metres from the baby's house at Tekcham village under Kakching Police Station in Thoubal district.
Leishemba, son of Tekcham Phanjoubam Ijouba, had gone missing minutes after his mother lulled him to sleep on December 1 night, leaving the family in gloomy suspense.
The mother left the baby alone in the bed to go to her tea stall at Tekcham bazaar when the incident took place.
All his belongings like gold earrings and silver jewellery were intact when the Baby's body was found in the pond.
The police are yet to ascertain the nature of the death.
Meanwhile, post-mortem of the body was conducted at the mortuary ofJNIMS later in the afternoon today.
However, with no coming forward to claim the body, OC in-Charge of Kakching Police Station Inspector Y Joykumar Singh has issued a notification informing that the body would be disposed off if no claim arisen upto December 6 .
