284th Puya Mei Thaba Day to be observed worldwide

Imphal, January 27 2013 :
The 284th Puya Mei Thaba Day observance which falls on February 4 next is all set to be organized jointly by International Observation Committee on Puya Mei Thaba (ICOP), MNF, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and All Manipur Recognised Private School Welfare Association at Kangla and Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen.
It is said that this time, Canada Manipuri Association would also be observing the 284th Puya Mei Thaba Day at Canada.
Announcing this to media today, N Tomba, Convener of ICOP and MNF, stated that as part of the observance, Black Badge Observation would be conducted by private schools and Transport associations as well.
The observation would be kick-started from the Sacred Heart High School at Porompat on February 2 .
He further informed that the main function of the observance would be held on February 4 at Kangla and Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen.
Floral tributes would be offered to the departed souls of Maichous and Mainous on the occasion.
For this year, the Maichou Ningshing Award, which is given to individuals who dedicate their lives towards the cause of integrity among the people of both the hills and the plains, would be awarded to Oja Sanabam Khamba and Joshua Luikang Maram of Maram Namdi Village.
The award carries a cash reward of Rs 10,000 and a citation each, Tomba said.
He also appealed to all the people of the State to take part in the observance and also not to call any bandh and blockades in the State on the said day.
