Conrad Sangma removes Kipgen

National People's Party (NPP) president Conrad K Sangma has removed Thangminlien Kipgen as Manipur State unit president and expelled him along with his followers from the part while Tribal Affairs & Hills Minister, N Kayisii has been appointed as the interim president.
The party's National president and Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma announced this while briefing media persons at Shillong today.
Thangminlien Kipgen and "others" were expelled for going against the party's Constitution.
He had acted against the Constitution of the party by going ahead with the elections and announcing it, Conrad said stating that a showcause notice was issued to them informing they should not go ahead with the elections as it was against the Constitution of the NPP.
Disregarding the notice served, they went ahead with the elections.
Hence, Kipen and his followers have been expelled from the party and they are no longer with the NPP, said Conrad.
Meanwhile, N Kayisii, who is also the Tribal Affairs Minister in the Manipur Government, has been appointed as the interim president, he said.
The Central election authority of the party, as per the Constitution, will shortly conduct the elections for the post of NPP Manipur State unit president, he added.
