Assam Rifles celebrates Teachers Day

In connection with the observation of Teacher's Day celebration across the country, the celebration was also organised by units of 9 and 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) at Battalion Headquarters and Company Operating Bases in the State to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first President of India, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Keithelmanbi Battalion celebrated the day with the students of Assam Rifles Public School, Keithelmanbi and Bashikhong High School, Canchipur, conveyed a press release issued by PRO, IGAR.
Likewise, Matripukhri Battalion celebrated the day with students of SS Residential High School and Upper Primary School Chingmeirong while Tulihal Battalion celebrated with students of Utlau High School, Utlau, it said.
Shangshak Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles celebrated the day with teachers, staff and students of Government High School, Mongkotchepu, Ukhrul district.
Meanwhile, a tree plantation drive was also organised where saplings were planted by students as a mark of respect towards their teachers justifying the motto "Guru Devo Bhava" which means Guru is Brahma, the one who plants the qualities of Goodness.
As part of the celebrations, interactive lectures were organised by the units highlighting the praiseworthy and motivating life of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and his valued contribution to the Indian education system.
The lectures were followed by various cultural programmes of the students of the respective schools including group songs and dance events.
The students paid rich tributes to all the teachers and presented to them tokens of appreciation for their sustained hard work and valued contribution in shaping their lives.
All the teachers and school staff were overwhelmed with the efforts undertaken by all the students and Assam Rifles in celebrating the Teachers Day with great zeal and enthusiasm.
