BMC student begins fast unto death protest

Four students of Biramangol College Sawombung began fast-unto-death protest against the negligence of the government authority towards the demand of the college.
The four students of the college who have begun the fast-unto-death protest are Mayengbam Angam, Secretary of Games and Sports; Ningthoujam Roshan, Magazine Secretary; Lairenlakpam Sophia, Secretary of Debate and Extension and Yumnam Poonam, Secretary of Girls Common Room.
According to the college students' union, there were no regular classes in the college due to the absence of a governing body.
Biramangol College is one of the state's oldest aided colleges.

The college is now survived for namesake due to the absence of the governing body.
The teachers of the college are left without any pay for the last more than one year said the student body.
"There is no regular Principal and none of the teachers have conducted regular class in the college depriving the rights around 2500 students", said Amarjit, secy.

The student union further said that the student body has been compelled to launch stir as government authority failed to listen to their demand.
Mention may be that large number of Biramangol College students holding placards inscribed with different slogans preceded towards the education minister's office at around 1 pm on Friday where they were halted by the police as soon as they reached the CM's gate.
The student unions' also threatens to boycott second semester exams slated on May 9 if the education minister and authorities concerned fail to fulfill their demands by May 8 .
