1500 beneficiaries sanctioned under MOBC: AK Mirabai

The Planning Department of Manipur had sanctioned a total of 1500 beneficiaries under Minorities and Other Backward Classes (MOBC) in the fiscal year 2011-12, Social Welfare minister AK Mirabai told Manipur assembly on Thursday.
Mirabai was replying to a question raised by MLA Ibomcha of Trinamool Congress during Question Hour in the second day of the session.
She said her department has been discussing on how many beneficiaries under MOBC can be selected for each constituency after choosing out only the eligible persons.
In another question by MLA Joykishan, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who also holds Finance portfolio, said Rs 9, 77, 521, 00 was sanctioned for repairing work on the Chief Secretary's quarters in 2002-07 and another Rs 80, 00, 300,00 in the year 2007-12 for the same purpose.
In response to a different question by Dr I Ibohanbi, the Chief Minister, who also holds Arts & Culture portfolio, further replied that it was a fact that a "Star shaped" Fort like wall have been discovered at Maklang paddy field.
Ibohanbi further asked if so, whether it belongs historically to any legendary king of Manipur and any plan for the Government to preserve the discovery.
To this, the Chief Minister said it is under investigation and it would be considered after getting detailed report of the investigation.
The Chief Minister also introduced two bills-Manipur Appropriation (Number 1 Bill), 2013 and Manipur Appropriation (Number 2 Bill), 2013 in the House.
