Thangal Surung Poppies destroyed

Imphal, March 07 2013:
Poppy plants worth Rs 1.44 crores have been destroyed in a massive drive conducted against cultivation of poppy plants in different locations of in general area of Thangal Surung village in Senapati district.
The drive was conducted by a team of personnel of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) led by Inspector RK Bikramjit, OC of NAB, Manipur and it was assisted by personnel of Saikul Police Station.
A total area of 38 acres of land in and around Saihsijang village, hill slopes of Molam village and Tuisomjang village under Saikul Police Station where poppy cultivations were thriving was covered in the drive.
