State logs 70 new cases, two fatalities

Imphal, October 27 2021:
The state on Wednesday logged two new fatalities and 70 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 1974 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 3.55 per cent against 3.29 percent recorded on Tuesday.
The two new death cases that were from Imphal East and Imphal West district took the tally of fatalities to 1917 .
One of them had received first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and the other was unvaccinated.
Out of the 16 districts of the state, 10 reported Covid cases on Wednesday with Imphal West recording highest cases at 31 .
In terms of positivity rate, Imphal East recorded highest single day positivity rate at 5.8 per cent while Thoubal district recorded lowest positivity rate at 1.4 per cent.
Jiribam, Noney, Pherzawl, Senapati, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal districts did not report any new positive cases.
The active caseload came down to 844 on Wednesday out of which 87 (10.31 per cent) are in home isolation, 262 (31.04 per cent) in CCCs, and 216 (25.59 per cent) in hospitals while data on 279 patients (33.06 per cent) was not shared by the government.
Among the hospitalised patients, 59 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 38 are on oxygen support and 21 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 106 patients.
On the other hand, there is one patient on oxygen support in different CCCs.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Tuesday evening, 673 beds including 119 ICU/HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2910 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 439 beds (31 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 94,073 positive cases and 1543 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has recorded 2889 new cases and 62 fatalities out of which 503 new cases and 13 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 70 new positive cases included 69 civilians (38 male & 31 female) from among the general population and one jawan of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were detected at RIMS (4), JNIMS (5) and other testing centres (61) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (20), Imphal West (31), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (3), Ukhrul (3), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (4), Kamjong (1) and Kangpokpi (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 97 patients were discharged from home isolation (15), JNIMS (22) and CCCs (60) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,23,473 (general population - 1,19,147 and CAPF personnel - 4,326).Number of recovered cases is 1,20,712 (general population - 1,16,407 and CAPF personnel - 4,305) and number of active cases is 844 (general population - 828 and CAPF personnel - 16) .
The recovery rate is 97.76 per cent.
A total of 508 D-type and 148 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
On Tuesday, 10,222 vaccine doses were administered and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,44,261, which include 6,71,713 fully vaccinated people.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (42,975), Imphal East (27,331), Thoubal (9433), Churachandpur (10,131), Kangpokpi (2777), Tamenglong (3273), Bishnupur (9145), Senapati (2225), Ukhrul (2933), Kakching (6395), Chandel (2327), Noney (1067), Tengnoupal (1054), Jiribam (1021), Kamjong (922) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (639), Imphal East (455), Thoubal (173), Churachandpur (160), Kangpokpi (61), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (39), Kakching (111), Chandel (37), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,791 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,486 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,38,372 tests per million population against the national average of 4,30,586 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1974 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 3.55 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.08 per cent.
