Women vendors of Khwairamband Bazar, Imphal on Thursday organised a sit-in protest against Wednesday's bomb blast in Masjid road area, in the heart of Imphal.
While strongly condemning the blast that inflicted injuries to at least seven people, four policemen, two women vendors and a non-local, the women vendors said the blast would have caused a disaster if the bomb was exploded without a warning.
Talking to the media, a woman leader from the vendors' community informed that as soon as they found the object suspected to be a bomb, they called up the city police personnel and informed them about the bomb.

Placards with slogans like 'Do not convert Ima Keithel into a Bomb Keithel', 'It is a market of the poor, not a battle field', 'don't kill the innocents,' etc were displayed at the protest site.
During the protest, almost all shops in Thangal and Paona Bazars remained closed in a mark of solidarity with the women vendors.
The women vendors also marched towards to the Chief Minister's bungalow at the western gate of Kangla Fort.
When the women met the Chief Minister, they urged him to take up adequate security measures in the market areas so as to thwart repetition of similar incidents in future.
