ADC Poll Update: NPF confident of winning maximum ADC seats in Ukhrul district

Pleading for unconditional support for all of its candidates, Naga Peoples' Front (NPF) has expressed confidence that the Naga political party would win maximum number of seats in the forthcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) Elections in Ukhrul district.
NPF party is setting up 23 candidates in the Ukhrul ADC having 24 seats which is going to polls on 1 June next.
Although not literally crossing his fingers, NPF Ukhrul Division Vice-President Ramyo Raingam confidently charted the positions of the party candidates in Phungyar, Nambashi Khullen, Kasom Khullen and many other ADC constituencies in the district, while asserting that the party is on its way to win maximum number of seats in the ensuing polls.
This was disclosed to a mammoth gathering during the Flag Hoisting & Blessing Program of NPF candidate for 11-Khamasom Constituency S Sirawung held at the Sihai Khunou Community Hall to mark the campaign kick-off for the fast approaching polls.
Ukhrul MLA Samuel Risom who attended the function as Chief Guest ceremoniously hoisted the party flag at the residence of candidate Sirawung in the presence of his better half Ms Sarena Risom and a slew of party leaders from Ukhrul Division, Chingai Area Unit 11-Khamasom DCC Sihai Samata, party workers, Sihai and Khamasom Village headmen and chairmen, Church leaders, social leaders and well-wishers among others.
MLA Risom pleaded with the 4900 strong voters from the three villages of Lunghar, Khamasom and Sihai under the constituency for mass support for the party candidate Sirawung who would work for the collective interests of the Nagas.
He also said that had the party not intervened, the ensuing ADC polls would have been deferred by one more year to fit the State Government's scheme of things.
Addressing the crowd, Sirawung begged for the public mandate so as to enable him execute his priority for the betterment of his constituency and work for aspirations of the Nagas.
Meanwhile, President Ukhrul Division Wungnaoshang Shimray came down heavily on the Ibobi-led government for siphoning off huge funds for tribals development in the name of Hill-Valley co-existence.
Significantly, Ms Risom called for women's participation at this critical juncture of the Nagas citing the Biblical account of Queen Easter rescuing thousands of Isrealites throiugh faithful hearts.
NG ngatangmi Vice president 45- Chingai Area Unit and Johnson Angkang PRO to MLA Riosom also spoke at the function.
Meanwhile, Independent candidate for 10-Ukhrul South HA vareishang also held a series of campaigns across the Ukhrul town areas.
During his campaign held at Phungreitang West Community Hall this evening, he spelled out his aims and objectives before the gathering.
Maintaining that he has stood up for peace, integrity and a justice-oriented society, Vareishang said that if given a chance he would work for weaker sections, women empowerment, public amenities education, forest conservation and creating platforms for the youth among many others.
