ADC members decry ambush on Minister Thaisii

Imphal, November 14 2011: An emergency meeting of the ADC Members, Senapati held at the Council Guest House, Chingmeirong today has strongly condemned the ambush laid by unidentified armed persons on Minister of Education and YAS DD Thaisii at a spot in between Maram and Purul in the evening of November 12 .

Subedar Sanii Pou, one escort personnel of the Minister sustained injuries in the ambush.

According to a statement issued by Chairman of ADC, Senapati RS Henry Hiilii, the ADC Members present strongly denounced the ambush on the Minister as inhumane, barbaric and violation of human rights and observed that any group roaming around with arms and explosive devices devalue and hamper the reconciliation and peace process in Naga society.

The ADC Members also called upon the individuals/groups responsible to opt for peaceful dialogue and bring about an amicable solution through mutual understanding, the Chairman informed, adding that attack on the life of people who spearhead developmental activities should not be encouraged at any cost as it is a direct attack on the life of common mass.

On the other hand, Mao Union, Imphal has also come out strongly against the attack on the life of Minister Thaisii and his entourage on November 12 and appealed to all concerned to restrain from resorting to such harsh action on elected representatives in the future.

In a joint statement signed by its Vice President A Kholi, General Secretary P Losii and Secretary Information and Publicity M Neli, the Union has also thanked god for the saving the life of Minister and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured security escort personnel.

COTA has also condemned the ambush on Education Minister DD Thaisii.
